will count as service for the purpose of calcu-

lating leave and pension. The rules on these

subjects are given in the print above referred

to.

From the date on which you are placed on

the pensionable establishment you will be re-

quired to contribute 4% of your salary to the

Widows' and Orphans' Pension Fund of the Colony.

3. It is to be understood that your en-

gagement is for not more than three years from

the date of your arrival in the Colony;

and that

if it is established to the satisfaction of the

Governor that you are not qualified for efficient

service there, he will subject to the confirma-

tion of the Secretary of State, have full power

to cancel your appointment at any time within

the said three years without giving you any

further compensation that passages back to

England for yourself and family, which will be

granted only if he is satisfied that you have,

by your good conduct, deserved this concession.
